Children’s Parliament (giving a a voice on topics that matter)

Did you know that we have a Children’s Parliament? No, neither did we until accidentally coming across a quote from the Children’s Prime Minister, who is helping the  campaign to rescue 15 Gentoo penguins, stuck in a dingy basement at London zoo:

As children, we know how important freedom and fresh air are for happiness. Penguins deserve sunlight, space to swim and a real sky above them. Not life in a dark basement. Naila Seetal (former Child Prime Minister)

The Parliament brings together 60 MPs and hundreds of members, to debate the issues of our time. Which unfortunately for Trump and his band of clueless merry men, includes climate change and animal welfare.

The Parliament was launched just after the tragic murder of Sir David Amess, the Conservative Southend MP who (unusually for a Tory) was an animal welfare campaigner (one of the few  to oppose fox hunting, and he voted to leave the EU, hoping it would mean better animal welfare laws).

The new Children’s Prime Minister had more foresight than adult MPs and the media, as a year ago he was campaigning for TikTok to take down videos like beheadings, which was leading to mental health problems for young people. Another child watched a prank, tried it himself and died (strangely also in Southend-on-Sea, the constituency of Sir David).

Now that we have left the European Union, animal sentience should be introduced into legislation. That is why I want us to lead the way, and enshrine animal sentience into law. Sir David Amess.

Sir Kier – we’re still waiting…

Who Was Sir David Amess?

Sir David Amess

David was an MP for over 40 years in Parliament, and father to three children. A devout Catholic, he used his faith to bring a better world for animals and the planet, and came across much opposition in his chosen Conservative party.

His daughter Katie (an actress who once played Lulu on stage) now continues his work, saying that he  would be appalled that foxes are still being killed illegally, since the hunting ban.

Sir David also campaigned against trophy hunting imports, often using Cecil the lion as a good reason to bring in legislation (yet almost 5 years after his death, the House of Lords is still debating the law, with some peers ‘talking and talking’ to try to avoid it becoming law, due to vested interests).

He was murdered in a terrorist attack, while holding a surgery for his constituents. The local Catholic priest was not allowed to enter the crime scene to give David the last rites (final sacraments and prayers for the dying), which led to the law being changed, so this never happens again. The Priest instead recited the rosary outside the building.
